Dance Evaluation Requirements
The Dance Department is welcoming middle school students who have a passion for dance. Formal dance training in Ballet and Modern is not required to be accepted into the CPMA Art Pathway.

To apply to the CPMA Dance program:
Please complete an evaluation video. Your video should be recent (within one month of submission) and must include the following components. Your video should not exceed 5 minutes in length.

Preparing your Evaluation Video
We need to be able to see you clearly in your video. Make sure that your camera is positioned and the lighting allows us to see you. Please wear form-fitted athletic or dance attire. Please secure hair off your face and neck, so that we can see your movement and you can move safely.
Please include the following components:

Introduction. Please introduce yourself by answering the following questions:

What is your first and last name?

What is your age?
-
What grade will you be entering in the Fall?

Why do you want to attend CPMA?

What do you love about dance?
-
Have you ever taken dance before? If so, what types and for how long?

2. Perform a solo
Prepare and perform a dance in any style that demonstrates and highlights your passion for dance. Your solo can be your own choreography or someone else's, and should be approximately 30 seconds - 45 seconds in length. Choose music that is appropriate for a school setting. ​

Students will be evaluated individually. Areas of assessment will include:

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR EVALUATION
Please upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo. or Google Drive.
If you use YouTube, please upload the video as Unlisted to protect your student’s privacy.
If you use Vimeo, please secure it with a password. We will need access to this password to view your submission. If you use Google Drive, please change the share settings so that Anyone With The Link will be able to view your submission.
