Theatre Evaluation Requirements
The Theatre Department is looking for students who have a passion for theatre or theatre tech to join our participate in our art pathway.

To apply to the CPMA Theatre program:
Please complete an evaluation video. Your video should be recent (within one month of submission) and must include the following components. Your video should not exceed 5 minutes in length.

Video Introduction

​In your video, please introduce yourself. Include:

Your first and last name

The grade you will be entering in the Fall

Why do you want to attend CPMA?
2. Answer the following questions:

What do you enjoy about performing or what do you enjoy or want to learn about working backstage?

Are you submitting for the Theatre Pathway or the Technical Theatre Pathway?

3. Perform a monologue and/or song OR explain and outline your design & production ideas!

Perform (1) monologue (What is a monologue? A monologue is a long speech by one person in a play or movie during a conversation.)

Introduce your monologue before you begin. Include the title of the play, and the character you will be playing.

The monologue should be from a play if possible, between 1 to 2 minutes and age appropriate.

You may also perform (1) song with accompaniment - live or digital.

Make sure you are louder than your accompaniment.​

Your chosen song should be age appropriate.
-
The song you sing should be 45 to 60 seconds long.

Musical Theatre selections are preferable, but not mandatory.

If you do not have an idea for a song - select something you already know and love. For example, songs from Disney musical films, or from the popular mainstream.​

If you are interested in the Technical Theatre pathway, explain or outline your Design & Production Ideas.

Think of a show, musical or book you enjoy. If you were creating a new stage show based on this story, what would you do?

Write or show pictures of your thoughts. If you enjoy costume design, show your costume creations. If you enjoy making props, show ideas on what they would look like. Interested in lighting? How would you light your show? Set design? What does that look like to you? We want to see your creativity!

For your evaluation:

Have the camera on your eyeline.​

Once you begin, look slightly above or off to the left or right of the camera.

If you are submitting for Technical Theatre, prepare your ideas and outlines.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR EVALUATION
Please upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo. or Google Drive.
If you use YouTube, please upload the video as Unlisted to protect your student’s privacy.
If you use Vimeo, please secure it with a password. We will need access to this password to view your submission. If you use Google Drive, please change the share settings so that Anyone With The Link will be able to view your submission.
