Dance Audition Requirements
The Dance Pathway is welcoming students who have a passion for dance.
Formal dance training is not required to be accepted into the CPMA Dance Pathway.
To apply to the CPMA Dance program:
Please complete an audition video. Your video should be recent (within one month of submission) and must include the following. Your video should not exceed 5 minutes in length.
Preparing your Audition Video
We need to be able to see you clearly in your video. Make sure that your camera is positioned and the lighting allows us to see you. Please wear form-fitted athletic or dance attire. Please secure hair off your face and neck, so that we can see your movement and you can move safely.
Please include the following components:

Introduction. Please introduce yourself by answering the following questions:

What is your first and last name?

What is your age?

What grade will you be entering in the Fall?

What made you want to audition for the dance pathway at CPMA?

What styles of dance have you experienced, and which is your favorite?

Where did you experience your dance styles - in a dance class? a TikTok video? Somewhere else?

What makes a dance interesting for you that makes you want to watch?

What is one goal you would have if you joined the dance pathway?

How can a dancer communicate an idea or emotion without speaking?
2. Perform a solo
Prepare and perform a dance in any style that demonstrates and highlights your passion for dance. Your solo can be your own choreography or someone else's, and should be approximately 30 seconds - 45 seconds in length. Choose music that is appropriate for a school setting.
Students will be evaluated individually. Areas of assessment will include:

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR AUDITION
Please upload your Dance videos to a Google Drive or DropBox Folder for sharing. Ensure the settings on your folder are set so that "Anyone with the Link" can view the contents.
